My First Blog
As I begin my blog, I would like to introduce myself to you and let you know that I have proudly been a part of the Herzog Jewelers team for 7 years. My name is Susan and I am honored to have this venue to reach out to our followers. While I am new at blogging and of the generation that is not well-versed with social media, my proclivity for writing is endless! Also, I have been selling jewelry for longer in my life that I have not. I started in a small “Mom and Pop” jewelry store as a teenager, putting tags on jewelry as a summer job. After a few months of realizing that this was better than making strawberry pies at Marie Calendars, (at age 15, my first summer job,) my jewelry career began.
After 35 years, working for a few mall jewelry stores, college, a big specialty retailer (as the jewelry manager for 20 years,) and coming full circle, here I am back in a family-owned jewelry store.
It is hard to believe that having been in the jewelry business for so many years prior to coming to Herzog’s that there would be anything else to learn. Fast forward to 2010, when I joined this great store and became a part of the greatest jewelry family ever! As I always sold designer, branded, fine and fashion jewelry, or ready made bridal sets, the thought of selling loose diamonds was completely foreign to me. I thought, “I am not going to be able to keep track of those sparkly little rocks.” I have now been successfully selling loose diamonds in bridal jewelry for years, and I love every opportunity that I am honored to share. We have hundreds of beautiful engagement rings and even if you don’t see what you like, we can custom make it for you. We have an incredibly talented designer in New York whom we respectfully refer to as “the Master of jewelry making.” He is Ted’s best friend and the best friend of many who have never had the pleasure of making his acquaintance. Yet, so many brides-to-be have been the fortunate recipients of his beautifully crafted designs. With (our third generation) sharing store ownership, Ted’s Graduate Gemologist degree is what guarantees that we can present you with the most beautiful diamond, meeting the criteria and specs as individual as the one you love. More to come on this later…………….
