First Impressions

As I stated in my blog from yesterday, I have been selling jewelry longer than I have not been selling jewelry. What this means is that I have never actually been a true consumer of the products I sell. With this being said, and some recent training classes on selling to today’s shoppers, I realized two important facts. Typically, the first time a young man enters a jewelry store in his life it could be for one of the biggest and most important purchases of a lifetime. Secondly, if he has never been in a jewelry store, then surely he will not know about the most important item he is looking for, a diamond to present to the most important person in his life. He may have shopped on line, done some research on the internet, but really, how can he know what he is looking for and where to begin with shopping for this critical purchase?

Shopping for a diamond can be a most daunting, intimidating, and stressful purchase. Or, it can be the most fun, enjoyable, wonderful experience, as is our mission at Herzog’s. This important purchase is really one that is based on trust and having faith and confidence in me as your sales person and the store from which your ring is purchased. It is my job to make you feel at ease by listening, making suggestions, and communicating all of the information so that you can make an educated decision regarding what is best for the bride to be.

Many times, my customers tell me that they are really not sure what they are looking for and they do not know where to begin. I have a series of questions that I like to ask and basically am on a fact-finding mission so that I can narrow down your search. If you are shopping with your girlfriend and it is a joint decision, I will ask for pictures and get her input on what her dream ring shall look like. If she does not see something that is in the showcase, we can custom-make her ring and make any design specifications requested. Depending on the desired diamond, we will help you select your diamond based on size, shape, quality, price range. I understand that you cannot possibly have the knowledge that we can provide for you with our years of experience working with so many customers and we are happy to spend as much time as necessary to make you feel comfortable, confident, and excited about shopping with us.

The greatest form of flattery is when our clients tell their friends and family to shop with us because they had such a wonderful experience. We rely on referrals all of the time and we understand that if we are going to earn your trust and your patronage, we have to become an integral part of your selection and you too will join the Herzog family. With so many years in business, we have proven for generations that we are here for all of your families’ jewelry needs and desires. If you are wearing your ring proudly, then you are saying to all of those around you, “Look at the beautiful ring I got at Herzog’s,” and you will most certainly be spreading the word.
